Wings Hosting a Chicago Fundraising Event
Chicago, Ill. April 4, 2019 — Wings’ initiative has always been to do as much as is possible to help rebuild a healthier and happier world, through actions big and small. It’s difficult to look at emerging patterns and wonder what kind of future lies ahead, if any, but even more difficult to sit by and do nothing.
As such, Wings is taking part in a charity fundraiser in Chicago, the proceeds of which will go into rebuilding some of the damaged/destroyed natural habitats in the surrounding area. The goal is to give Illinois' wildlife a place to once again thrive, and undo some of the manmade damage from the last several decades.
During this event, Wings will be funding the implementation of a community garden at a local park, which Chicago residents can help care for. Some of the plants grown in this garden will include flowers, to support insects such as butterflies and bees, helping their lives to flourish; as well as fruits, vegetables, and herbs, such as lettuce, tomatoes, kale, and rosemary.
There are nutritional benefits to having a community garden, with healthy, homegrown food, as well as other health benefits. This will promote physical activity, a positive relaxation method, and will provide access to fresh food. Studies have also shown that having a community garden leads to decreased crime rates. As such, this garden will not only promote a healthier community, but a happier and safer one.
Above all else, the hope is to bring back some of the nature that has been destroyed in favor of urban life and the benefit of production for major corporations with little regard for our environment.
CEO Ace Sinn will be present at this event to speak and give further detail on the purpose and hopes for both the fundraiser and the garden.
In the past hundred years, we’ve destroyed 80% of the world’s forests and 40% of the tropical rainforests. It's a lot of damage to undo, but Wings hopes to help with even the smallest steps with this garden.
